Amazing book, love it

In 'Claire's Tomato,' author Ed Keller introduces his readers to an amazing little girl named Claire, who has an outdoorsy and inquisitive personality. She sets out to fill her mind with newfound knowledge at every opportunity. Her parent's awareness of how smart their daughter is and constantly encourage her active learning. Since the family's move to a new home in a new neighborhood, Claire has been on a quest to learn everything there is to know about where vegetables come from. One day, Claire and her father visited their neighbor, Mr. Edwards, and had the chance to check out his garden. The best part about their visit was it sparked a lesson when growing your food. All plants have an expiry date, and if not picked early on, it cause a loss of the overall plant later on. In case no one knew, Claire learned that growing food comes with the automatic intention of picking and eating.

As most of us older generations have shopped for our fruits and vegetables from the store, the newer generations are reverting backwards to grow their food. Her dad sparked the interest to plant tomatos as Claire enjoys them, it also gave her an opportunity to try her hand at growing her own. She learned that tomatos go through color changes during their growing stages and how to tell once it's ripe. As much as she was attached to her growing tomato plant, even naming it Greenie, she then realized it was grown for the purpose to consume. After understanding that, it added fuel to plant even more plants in the near future.

This is a great children's story because it teaches, engages by questioning the reader, and provides examples within the book. If someone had not known much about planting a garden or growing their own fruits and vegetables, the book offers that kind of support. I enjoyed how the parents of Claire were patient and kind with her every step of the way. They were happy to teach their daughter everything she wanted to know, while being available whenever she sought answers. Children will learn more about what humans need to sustain life, the purpose of growing fruits and vegetables yourself, how to care and nurture your plants, the stages a tomato plant has before it's completely ripe to eat, and what happens when you don't pick them off their vines. A wholesome short story that is jammed-packed with so much information that would inspire children to become little gardeners. I highly recommend this book for teachers and parents to read to children, as it would plant seeds of inspiration.

amazing

Clare’s Tomato by Ed Keller is a mesmerizing yet fun children’s book that gives your kids the inspiration they need to grow a tomato plant, or at the very least, learn about where the food in their refrigerator and plate comes from, whether it’s a fruit or vegetable. When Clare gets curious about her food, she focuses a lot on tomatoes. She’s a lovely character who is intelligent but wants to learn more about the food she eats, which is a great way to get kids interested in nutrition, healthy food, and gardening.

When Clare tries to grow a tomato plant, she becomes concerned about how successful she will be — will the tomatoes grow into their full size, and how can Clare be sure that she’s growing them properly? The book answers many great questions that children have about their food. Can animals make their own food? How do tomatoes grow? Where does all our food come from? What is the difference between a fence and a cage? Growing a plant requires a few simple items, a bit of care, and a lot of patience.

If your children show interest in gardening, this book is for them! I found this book well-written for kids and adults and a great read to share with the whole family. I give this fantastic book, Clare’s Tomato by Ed Keller, 5 out of 5 stars for its refreshing introduction to growing food and making healthy choices.
